CONSTRUCTION AT LĪPOA

LĪPOA News: Construction of additional access to Pii‘lani Highway underway

Aloha LĪPOA Community,
Construction of the first residential phases of LĪPOA is proceeding on schedule with the first homes scheduled to be delivered by the end of the year. Most of the mass grading is complete and critical drainage infrastructure in place. The new neighborhoods are taking shape.  Work is now underway on the infrastructure for the expanded road system.

As part of this road infrastructure, Ho‘okena Street (the road just outside Park Plaza) is being extended down to Pi‘ilani Highway with just under a mile of new roadway, including wide sidewalks along the entire section. This additional entrance/exit will help improve the traffic flow in and out of LĪPOA, especially during peak travel times.
The new intersection will be a right in, right out intersection only:

From Pi‘ilani Highway into LĪPOA: right turn in
From LĪPOA onto Pi‘ilani Highway: right turn out

Construction activity has made its way to Pi‘ilani Highway. While driving by you will notice Goodfellow Bros. grading and prepping the area for the new highway connection.  In the coming weeks there will be more activity with safety barriers being installed and significant work occurring along the bank of the highway.  In addition, a retaining basin is being constructed on the north side of the intersection.

Work along Pi‘ilani Highway is expected to continue through the end of April.  No daytime road closures along Pi‘ilani Highway are expected but there will be some night work in March, and during that time, one lane heading toward Kahului will be closed for the safety of the construction crew.

Opening the Ho‘okena Street connection is dependent on the completion of the adjacent residential neighborhood and final approvals from the State and County.  Updates will be shared as that gets closer.

LĪPOA’s main intersection at Lipoa Parkway and Pi‘ilani Highway will continue to be the primary intersection with improvements to that intersection scheduled for 2027 in cooperation with the State Department of Transportation (DOT). This will occur after the Ho‘okena intersection is fully functioning.

Mahalo for your patience,
The LĪPOA Team
