When Dominic Manzano graduated from Lahainaluna High School in 2020, he never imagined he’d soon be helping build technology that surveys space from locations around the world.
Today, the Lahaina native works as an electronics engineer at Maui-based aerospace company Cloudstone Innovations, where he designs custom circuits and GPS sensors for portable autonomous telescopes that help monitor activity in space.
Dominic’s journey began through an internship while studying at the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College. Just a few years later, he’s launched a career in Maui’s growing aerospace industry—without having to leave home.
“I didn’t want to leave; I just wanted to stay on island,” he says.
With support from his employer, Dominic is also earning his bachelor’s degree in engineering online, allowing him to continue advancing his education while staying close to family and community.
His story shows that world-class engineering opportunities are taking root right here on Maui, creating pathways for local students to build meaningful careers without leaving the islands behind.
