Meet Liliana Royer! She is a University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa graduate who turned a summer internship into a career right here at Līpoa.

While in college, Liliana began an internship with the Research Corporation of the University of Hawaiʻi, where she was introduced to machine learning, a field that was completely new to her at the time. Through hands-on experience, she was able to develop specialized skills and discover a new direction for her career.

Then, as her internship was coming to an end, an Application Engineer position opened at the Maui High Performance Computing Center.

“All of the stars aligned,” Liliana shared.

Today, at 26 years old, she is building her career in technology without having to leave the pae ʻāina.

Liliana’s story is a powerful example of what can happen when Hawaiʻi students have access to meaningful, hands-on opportunities that create pathways from education to careers here at home.
