Meet Jaxson Pahukala. Like many students from Hawaiʻi, Jaxson thought he’d have to leave home to build a career in technology.
A graduate of Kamehameha Schools Maui and Purdue University, he spent two summers interning with organizations at Līpoa. Those experiences opened his eyes to opportunities he never knew existed, and completely changed his plans.
On the final day of his internship with the Research Corporation of the University of Hawaiʻi, and in the middle of presenting his work, he received a job offer from KBR’s Līpoa office. Today, he’s a software engineer working on telescope systems right here on Maui.
His advice to Hawaiʻi’s students?
“There are tons of companies that are possible avenues that I had no idea about until I had my first internship.”
Stories like Jaxson’s are exactly what Līpoa was envisioned for: creating opportunities where local talent can learn, grow, and build meaningful careers at home. We’re proud to celebrate the next generation of innovators helping shape Maui’s future.
